Frequently asked questions
Is the Golden Triangle enough for a first trip, or should I do more?
Six days is a good, unrushed introduction. If you have more time, adding Varanasi or continuing to Jodhpur and Udaipur (as the Royal Rajasthan Circuit does) rounds it out without overreaching.
Do I need to speak Hindi or know local customs in advance?
No — a local guide travels with you throughout on every one of these itineraries, and dress/etiquette guidance is given ahead of any temple or mosque visit.
What visa do I need for a first trip to India?
Most nationalities travel on an Indian e-Visa, applied for online before departure. We confirm the exact category for your passport when you enquire.
About First-time India tour packages
For a first visit, our collection points to the routes with the best ratio of headline sights to travel time — the Golden Triangle, the Royal Rajasthan Circuit and the North India Classic — private, paced sensibly, and built around named or at least clearly described stays.
Why these routes for a first trip
A first visit benefits from a short list of unmissable sights rather than an ambitious multi-region loop. The Golden Triangle (Delhi, Agra, Jaipur) does this in six days; the Royal Rajasthan Circuit adds Jodhpur and Udaipur to Jaipur for a fuller Rajasthan introduction; North India Classic extends further for those with two weeks.
Where this collection points you
- Golden Triangle Tour (6 days)Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, the classic introduction.
- Royal Rajasthan Circuit (6 days)our one fully priced package, Jaipur, Jodhpur and Udaipur.
- Golden Triangle with Varanasi (8 days)adds a genuine spiritual counterpoint to the monuments.
- North India Classic (14 days)the fuller circuit for a longer first trip.
Practical first-timer notes
Most international travellers need an Indian e-Visa, applied for online before departure. October to March is the most comfortable season for the north Indian sights on these routes. We tell you which visa category applies and the realistic road/flight times between stops before you book, not after.
