Mussoorie Travel Guide

Mussoorie sits above Dehradun in Uttarakhand's Garhwal foothills, and was developed by the British in the 19th century into one of North India's best-known hill stations, still called the Queen of the Hills. Its Mall Road, cable car and viewpoints toward the Himalaya and the Doon Valley below make it an easy, low-effort mountain escape rather than an adventure destination.

April to June is the classic summer escape from the plains' heat; September to November is quieter and equally scenic. Winter brings cold weather and occasional snow, which draws its own visitors. Two days covers the Mall Road, Gun Hill and a waterfall trip; Mussoorie combines easily with a Rishikesh or Dehradun stay given the short drive between them.
