- Reply within four hours, 9am–9pm IST

- The introductory dive suits complete beginners, because you are paired one-to-one with an instructor throughout and never dive unsupervised (some operators accept non-swimmers for this dive — check current policy when you book).
- Certified divers who already hold a qualification such as an Open Water certificate can book dives suited to their level and log the dive on their card.
- Visibility and conditions vary with the season and the day, and instructors brief every group on what to expect before entering the water.
- Wear swimwear under light, quick-drying clothing for the boat journey; a rash vest or wetsuit is usually provided or available to hire.

Pickup
We arrange your transfer from your Goa hotel to the departure point on the coast.
Briefing and equipment fitting
At the dive centre or boat, an instructor fits your equipment and runs through the basic skills and hand signals you need for the dive.
Boat transfer to the site
A boat takes the group out to the dive site, commonly around Grande Island, with the crossing itself offering views back to the coast.
The dive
Introductory divers go in one-to-one with an instructor for a controlled, shallow dive; certified divers dive in a buddy pair or small group suited to their qualification.
Return and debrief
After the dive, the boat returns to shore, where the instructor debriefs the group and, for certified divers, logs the dive.
Most Goa scuba diving trips depart by boat from the coast near Vasco da Gama for sites around Grande Island, where rock and reef formations in relatively shallow, sheltered water suit both first-time divers and certified divers looking for an easier logged dive. Trips are typically offered at two levels: an introductory or 'discover scuba' dive, which needs no prior certification and is done under close one-to-one supervision from an instructor, and dives for already-certified divers who want to explore a specific site.
Visibility and conditions vary with the season and the day, and instructors brief every group on what to expect before entering the water.
Good for
Standard operator health restrictions apply to diving generally — certain heart, lung and ear conditions, and pregnancy, typically rule out diving; you disclose relevant health information on the operator's medical form before diving.
- Wear swimwear under light, quick-drying clothing for the boat journey; a rash vest or wetsuit is usually provided or available to hire.
- Avoid diving within 24 hours of flying, and tell the operator if you have any ear, sinus or heart condition before you go out on the boat.
- Motion sensitivity on the boat crossing is worth planning for if you are prone to seasickness; simple remedies help and are worth carrying.
- If you want to leave Goa with an actual diving certification rather than a one-off introductory dive, say so when booking, since that is a multi-day course rather than a single day trip.
Best season and starting point
The comfortable diving season runs roughly October to May, when the Arabian Sea along the Goa coast is calmer and visibility is better. The June-to-September monsoon brings rough seas and poor visibility, and diving is not offered during that window. Meeting point is your Goa hotel, with transfer to the boat departure point included.
Do I need to be a certified diver?
No. An introductory or 'discover scuba' dive needs no certification and is done one-to-one with an instructor. If you already hold a certification such as Open Water, you can book dives suited to that qualification instead.
Where does the diving happen?
Most trips depart by boat for sites around Grande Island off the coast near Vasco da Gama, where sheltered rock and reef formations suit both first-time and certified divers.
When is the best time to dive in Goa?
Roughly October to May. The June-to-September monsoon brings rough seas and poor underwater visibility, so diving is not offered during that period.
Do I need to be a strong swimmer?
Basic water confidence helps, but the introductory dive is closely supervised one-to-one by an instructor, and some operators accept non-swimmers for the introductory dive — check current policy with the operator when you book.
Can I get certified while I'm in Goa?
Yes, multi-day certification courses are available if you want to leave with a diving qualification rather than a single introductory dive; this needs more days than a one-off dive trip, so mention it when booking.

4/51 week agoWell run and good value. The tea stop was a highlight and the guide's recommendations for dinner were excellent. Traffic getting back into the city was rough, but that is hardly their fault.

5/51 month agoBooked this for my parents' anniversary. The team handled everything by WhatsApp beforehand, confirmed the hotel pickup time the night before, and the guide even had a small cake arranged at lunch. They were thrilled.

4/51 month agoA smooth, well-thought-out trip. The hotels were lovely, the driving was long some days, and one stretch of road was tiring — but they warned us about that, and the stops along the way made it bearable.
