The Rann of Kutch is a vast seasonal salt marsh that, in the dry winter months, becomes a blinding white desert stretching to the horizon. Rann Utsav is Gujarat Tourism's response: a purpose-built tented camp near Dhordo village, with cultural performances, craft bazaars showcasing Kutchi embroidery and mirror-work, and organised trips onto the salt flats, best at sunset or under a full moon.
It is as much about the landscape as the programme — the white desert itself, especially by moonlight, is the reason most travellers come.
