Udaipur's City Palace complex rises directly from Lake Pichola's eastern shore, and much of the city's romance comes from this relationship between water and white-marble architecture. A boat ride across the lake, past the Jag Mandir and Lake Palace (visible from the water, though the Lake Palace itself operates as a private hotel with restricted access for non-guests), is the classic Udaipur moment for couples.
We build the experience around a lakefront or lake-view hotel, guided time at the City Palace and its museum, and, where couples want it, a private candlelit dinner arranged at a heritage property.
- The Lake Palace hotel is a working, private property — non-guests can view it from the water but cannot generally visit without a reservation.
- Book your boat ride for sunset specifically; the light on the lake and palaces is at its best in the last hour before dusk.
- The City Palace complex involves a fair amount of walking; comfortable shoes help.
Best season and starting point
Two to three days is typical for Udaipur within a wider honeymoon itinerary. Best October to March; April to June is hot, though the lake moderates the heat somewhat compared with Rajasthan's desert cities.
Can we stay at the Lake Palace hotel itself?
Yes, if you book it as your hotel for the stay — it operates as a private luxury hotel; access for non-guests is restricted, so we would arrange it as your actual accommodation if that is what you want.
Is Udaipur good for a short honeymoon stop?
Yes — two to three days gives enough time for the City Palace, a sunset boat ride and a relaxed pace, making it easy to combine with another region.
Can you arrange a private dinner?
Yes, at various heritage properties depending on your hotel and preference — tell us what you have in mind and we will arrange it.

4/51 week agoReally good. The early start was tough but paid off in empty courtyards and cool air. One of the stops on the itinerary was swapped without warning, though the replacement was arguably better.

5/53 weeks agoClean vehicle, careful driver, and a guide who was patient with all our questions about temple etiquette. We never felt like a number. The office also called to check we had got home safely.

4/51 month agoVery good overall. The itinerary was tight but never felt rushed, and the driver was superb. The hotel on night two was a step down from the others — clean, but the Wi-Fi barely worked. Would still recommend.
