This three-day Jaisalmer tour covers the living fort and its carved sandstone havelis, then a night at the Sam sand dunes in the Thar Desert with a camel or jeep safari, a manageable stand-alone trip for travellers who want the desert without the rest of Rajasthan.
The Golden City and a night in the dunes
Jaisalmer's fort is still a living fort, with shops, homes and guesthouses inside its walls, and the carved sandstone havelis of the old city are among Rajasthan's finest. This three-day plan pairs the fort and old city with a night at the Sam sand dunes, a comfortable stand-alone trip if Jaisalmer, rather than the whole state, is the goal.
Is one night in the desert enough?
For most travellers, yes — it gives a sunset and sunrise in the dunes without needing extra days. Longer desert stays are possible if that is specifically what you want.
How hot does Jaisalmer get?
Very hot April to June, often above 40°C. October to March is comfortable, with cool desert nights.
Can this be combined with the rest of Rajasthan?
Yes — Jaisalmer fits naturally into our twelve-day Rajasthan Grand Tour, which adds Jaipur, Pushkar, Jodhpur and Udaipur around it.

5/51 week agoWe had a wheelchair user in our group and the team planned every stop around step-free routes without us having to chase. That level of care is rare. Highly recommended for families.

5/51 month agoThe homestay night was the memory we will keep — cooking with the family, the kids playing cricket in the lane. It was arranged with real thought, and the drive out there was beautiful.

4/53 months agoA lovely, well-organised trip. Only small gripe is that the morning pickup was fifteen minutes late on day one. Everything after that was punctual to the minute, so I suspect it was a one-off.
