This five-day tour links two of Rajasthan's headline cities without the rest of the state: Jaipur for its forts, City Palace and bazaars, then Udaipur for Lake Pichola and the City Palace, connected by a single road transfer.
Two cities, no rush
Jaipur and Udaipur are Rajasthan's two most-visited cities for good reason — forts and bazaars in one, lakes and palaces in the other — and this five-day plan gives two full days to each, connected by a single road transfer via Ranakpur, rather than adding Jodhpur or Jaisalmer and spreading the days thinner.
How long is the drive from Jaipur to Udaipur?
About six to six and a half hours, usually broken with a stop at the Ranakpur Jain temple, whose 1,444 carved marble pillars are worth the detour.
Can Jodhpur be added to this route?
Yes — that becomes our six-day Royal Rajasthan Circuit, which runs Jaipur–Jodhpur–Udaipur with named heritage hotels and a fixed price.
Is five days too short for Rajasthan?
Not if two cities, rather than the whole state, are the goal. It gives two full days at each without the long desert drives a fuller circuit involves.

5/52 weeks agoThe homestay night was the memory we will keep — cooking with the family, the kids playing cricket in the lane. It was arranged with real thought, and the drive out there was beautiful.

5/52 months agoDriver was a gem — patient, careful on the highway, and he pulled over for every photo request without a sigh. The car was comfortable and the air conditioning actually worked, which is not a given.

5/52 months agoSunrise start was worth the alarm. We were through the gates before the crowds and had almost twenty minutes with the place nearly to ourselves. The driver was waiting exactly where he said he would be.
