This six-day Kashmir tour is built around the classic week: two nights in Srinagar for Dal Lake and the Mughal gardens, a night each in Pahalgam and Gulmarg for the valleys, a Sonmarg day trip for the Thajiwas glacier view, and a last night back in Srinagar. One valley a day is the right pace on Kashmir's mountain roads.
The classic Kashmir week, at one valley a day
Five to seven days is the sweet spot for a first Kashmir trip: two nights in Srinagar, then two of the valleys — usually Pahalgam and Gulmarg — with a Sonmarg day trip if time allows. Mountain roads here reward slowness, so this itinerary keeps to one valley a day rather than a rushed loop.
Is six days enough for Kashmir?
Yes, for the core loop of Srinagar, Pahalgam and Gulmarg with a Sonmarg day trip. Add two or three more days for the quieter meadows, or extend to eight to ten days to continue overland into Ladakh.
Does the Gulmarg gondola always run?
It is weather dependent, especially the upper stage 2 section, which can close in poor visibility or high wind. We build a buffer into the day so a closure does not cost you the whole visit.
What is the best month for snow in Gulmarg?
December to February for reliable snow. April to June gives green meadows and wildflowers instead.
Can this trip continue on to Ladakh?
Yes, by road over the passes — one of the great Himalayan drives — or by flying. Ask for an eight- to ten-day combined itinerary.

5/51 month agoI travel for work and rarely bother with tours, but this was a proper insider's day. The guide steered us away from the crowds at exactly the right moments, and the lunch he chose was superb.

4/52 months agoExcellent guide and a well-paced day. My only note is that lunch was at a fairly touristy restaurant; food was fine but we would have preferred somewhere more local. Otherwise faultless.

5/53 months agoSunrise start was worth the alarm. We were through the gates before the crowds and had almost twenty minutes with the place nearly to ourselves. The driver was waiting exactly where he said he would be.
