This fourteen-day itinerary is the fuller first-timer's circuit of North India: the Golden Triangle (Delhi, Agra, Jaipur), on through Rajasthan to Udaipur and Jodhpur, then east to Varanasi for the Ganga Aarti, and a finish in Rishikesh for the river and a slower pace before flying home.
Monuments, forts, the Ganges, and a slower finish
Fourteen days is enough to link North India's headline stops without a different city every single night. This itinerary runs the Golden Triangle first, continues through Rajasthan for two of its lake-and-fort cities, flies east to Varanasi for its river rhythm, and closes in Rishikesh — a deliberately gentler final stretch after twelve days of monuments and long drives.
Is fourteen days too much travelling for one trip?
It is a full trip, but the pace is built around two to three nights per stop rather than one-night hops everywhere, and the flights between Rajasthan, Varanasi and Rishikesh cut what would otherwise be very long drives.
Can this itinerary be shortened?
Yes — dropping either Udaipur/Jodhpur or the Varanasi/Rishikesh leg brings it to roughly nine to ten days. Ask and we will re-quote either version.
Why fly rather than drive between Rajasthan and Varanasi?
The road distance is well over a thousand kilometres; flying (usually via Delhi) turns what would be two draining driving days into a half-day of travel, leaving more time at each stop.
Does winter fog affect this itinerary?
Occasionally. North Indian plains airports, including Delhi, can see fog-related delays in December and January. We build a little slack into the connecting days where possible.

4/55 days agoWell run and good value. The tea stop was a highlight and the guide's recommendations for dinner were excellent. Traffic getting back into the city was rough, but that is hardly their fault.

5/53 weeks agoWe asked for a slower pace because of a bad knee and they rebuilt the day around it without any drama — fewer steps, more sitting, same highlights. That flexibility is why I would book again.

5/51 month agoDriver was a gem — patient, careful on the highway, and he pulled over for every photo request without a sigh. The car was comfortable and the air conditioning actually worked, which is not a given.

5/52 months agoThe food stops were the surprise star. Our guide took us to a family-run place for thali that we would never have found alone, and explained every dish. Not a single upset stomach in six days.
